Wilkins-Cloues-Bigelow-Pearson Post 39 proudly serves veterans and their families in the towns of Warner, Webster & Bradford and currently has a membership of over 115.

The American Legion is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, men and women, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to Americanism and to mutual helpfulness.

On Feb. 3, 1943, the United States Army Transport Dorchester – a converted luxury liner – was crossing the North Atlantic, transporting more than 900 troops to an American base in Greenland. Aboard the ship were four chaplains of different faiths: Reverend George Fox (Methodist), Jewish Rabbi Alexander Goode, Reverend Clark Poling (Dutch Reformed) and Father John Washington (Roman Catholic).

AMERICAN LEGION DISTRICT 5 HOLDS POOL TOURNAMENT IN PENACOOK
 
 
 
It was a cool Saturday morning on January 16th but at the American Legion Post 31 in Penacook, things were heating up. The hour was drawing near and in the smoke filled pool room, 22 members of the Legion and Auxiliary were practicing for the tournament that was about to start.

Fort Bragg's "Adopt A Soldier"

This program gives the civilian community an opportunity to show their support of deployed Soldiers on an individual and personal basis.


The adoption involves sending letters and care packages for the duration of the Soldier's deployment.
