HILLSBORO AMERICAN LEGION POST HITS A TRIPLE!

Not only did they hit a triple, they also had to attempt it three times before being successful! Old Man Winter has a bad habit of messing up the works and thankfully this time, after two weather related postponements, the snow was light enough so that Young-Richardson Post #59 could hold its installation of officers on February 27, 2010.

Over 60 members and friends witnessed the triple installation: Legion Post 59, Auxiliary Unit #59, and (Sons of American Legion) SAL Squadron #59. Ernie Jones, District 5 Commander served as "Master of Ceremonies" and introduced the installing officers for the Squadron and Auxiliary.

ARMY CHIEF VISITS TROOPS

<img align=top src=Post39Warner.com/ArchivesHTM/LEADbfc6ec3b52f5-TN.PNG alt=Photo of Army Chief of Staff George W. Casey Jr. displays some holiday spirit Dec. 21, as he speaks to the Soldiers of 1st Armored Division in Germany, about their role in their upcoming deployment to Iraq and how the Afghanistan troop surge will affect it.

WIESBADEN ARMY AIRFIELD, Germany -
Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. braved snow and bone-chilling wind Dec. 21, to speak to the Soldiers of 1st Armored Division about their role in their upcoming deployment to Iraq and how the Afghanistan troop surge will affect it.

He emphasized that their role and that of other units under the leadership of Gen. Raymond Odierno, Multinational Force- Iraq commander, will assist and advise the Iraqis as they continue to secure their own nation.

Casey has traveled around the world in the past couple of weeks, including visits to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. During one visit to Soldiers of 1st Cavalry Division, who 1st Armored Division will replace, he seemed pleased by what he saw. "I was amazed with the commitment and zeal the Soldiers currently deployed to Iraq exhibited," Casey said. "We have a seasoned Army that is committed to its mission."

Helicopter Protection Enters New Era

The Defense Department is kicking off a program to design, build and demonstrate prototypes of the Joint and Allied Threat Awareness System (JATAS) to protect U.S. Navy and Marine Corps helicopters and tiltrotor aircraft from dumb and smart weapons.

Wilkins-Cloues-Bigelow-Pearson Post 39, American Legion, Warner and Mt. View Senior Center, Bradford, sponsored a pot luck dinner and program to honor all veterans who have served our country.
